What type of materials do you work with?
MTD Micro Molding manufactures products using all thermoplastic materials from PP to Peek. The materials we use include many bioabsorbable materials.

Do you work with silicone?
MTD Micro Molding will receive its first micro silicone machine in 2010. After we have achieved several micro silicone company milestones, we will begin manufacturing customer products.

Do you offer any bioabsorbable materials with long degradation times?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding offers bioabsorbable materials with various degradation times. The shortest degradation times are generally found in materials with relatively low strength and stiffness, while more robust materials offer longer degradation times.

How long does it take to make the average mold?
The time required to build a mold depends on complexity, so it's difficult to provide an average. However, we work closely with each customer to achieve a mold construction timeline that meets your needs. Some product molds can be constructed in less than a week, while others may take around five weeks. Again, construction time depends on the complexity of the mold.

Do you with work with Microfluidics?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding has recently added a Micro EDM machine to our facility. This enables us to produce 3D Microfluidics applications with relative ease.

How do I know if my part can be manufactured by MTD Micro Molding?
If your desired part fits within a 1.0 x 1.0 inch square and has micro features, there's a good chance that we can help you build it. Give us a call today to discuss your project.

Do you do injection molding?
Yes. All of our micro molding presses are injection molding machines that have been configured to produce micro injection molded parts.

How big is MTD Micro Molding?
MTD Micro Molding is a company with 18XX employees. Our facility is a 16,000 sq. ft. building that houses our offices, mold manufacturing and micro molding departments.

Do you have a brochure available?
No. Most information about our company and capabilities is available on our website, and we encourage you to give us a call with any questions.

Do you have a price list?
No. Micro molded parts are very unique and we scope each project individually.

What type of metals do you work with?
MTD Micro Molding is capable of processing all conductive metals.

What is the smallest part you can make at your facility?
To date, the smallest production part we've manufactured is 0.0009 grams, and the smallest production shot size is 0.028 grams.

Do you have a registered Quality System?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding is an ISO 9001:2000 Registered company.

Do you have automated inspection capabilities?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding has two OGP automated vision inspection systems.

Do you mold products in a clean room?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding has two Class 100,000 “ISO Class 8” certified molding clean rooms. These clean rooms monitor particulate, viable air and surface contact.

Do you have ISO 13485?
No, However, we are currently upgrading our quality system to ISO 9001:2008 and continue to move towards ISO 13485:2003.

How much of your business is for the medical field?
This varies from year to year, but medical product manufacturing accounts for approximately 90 percent of our business.

Can you perform Validation?
MTD Micro Molding can perform standard IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols, as well as process capability and DOE's.

Do you have standard validation protocols?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding has three standard validation protocols and works with customers to implement and perform custom validations.

What software do you use for tabulating data?
MTD Micro Molding uses Minitab as our standard software. However, if you prefer to receive data in a different format, we will gladly review for efficacy.

Do you offer rapid prototyping?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding prides itself on the ability to provide customers with hardened-steel inserts. These inserts are essentially pre-production prototypes of the specific part.

Do you offer design assistance?
Yes. MTD Micro Molding's engineers are happy to apply their extensive experience to review your prints in order to determine feasibility. Your success is our primary goal.

What is your first shot quality?
MTD Micro Molding averages a FSQ of 90 percent.

Can you perform mold flow?
MTD Micro Molding has partnered with a mold flow expert. Together we work to ensure that our capabilities match the expert's predictions. This partnership allows MTD Micro Molding to accurately predict the results of our molding projects.
